Gtechniq Gtechniq was founded by quantum physicist Drew Gill in 2001, out of a total dissatisfaction with the performance of paint protection products at the time. Everything from waxes, to new-fangled polymers and PTFE based miracle treatments, nothing on the market offered any meaningful durability, either in looks, or protection. Worse still, he found that most of the products actually performed poorer than the paints they were supposed to protect. From this discontent came a simple idea, ‘To engineer the world’s most beautiful, perfectly finished, smartest and most intelligent surfaces. Surfaces that do much more than simply look great when new.’

Rob, why G1 over G3 for cars? just down to durability? G3 is ever so slightly cheaper, repels at lower speeds and appears to have a quicker application time. Does G3 smear at all and is it harder to apply? Why polish off with paper which surely must be rougher than soft cloth? and finally, you recommend 3 coats of G1..how many for G3?
My first post so I thought I'd throw all questions in at once!
Thanks in advance.

you'll find after just 2 months or so, the repellancy on a wiindscreen between G1 and G3 be about the same. from there on G1 just holds up much better, so it just makes sense really. G3 will not smear and is fine for windscreen, but G1 is just better (although harder to apply, marginally).

you polish with an MF cloth (using G4) and buff the G1 off with a cotton towel or something similar.

trust me, use G1 on front screen. 2 coats of G3 for rear screen and side windows is more than enough, even 1 coat on those windows will last a long time (approx 1 year), but for windscreen if you really want G3, i'd say 2-3 coats but you'll get no more than 4-5 months.
