Thank you We are both excited.

Focus. Don't mention the Focus! New developments. It's drinking water like it's going out of fashion.

I am praying to the car gods that it's just the EGR Cooler. I didn't get a chance to do it this weekend.

Our other car, the 206, has had a new axle put in it and fresh MOT, trusty old Pug, we love that car.

it's strange, it's like the 206 WANTS to live and the Focus, feels as though it's given up. Poor thing.

Well what a year 2017 has been.

Our little daughter arrived on 20th of September, so she's now 11 weeks old! Of course everything stopped to enjoy our summer (what we got of it) and more recently, baby has been a priority as she always will be but as a lot of you know, the first weeks are the hardest!

Just an update on the car. The leaking coolant was the EGR cooler. I sourced a good 2nd hand one off the bay and that cured that problem. (pics to follow).

Only issue was...managed to strip the thread in the manifold for the putting the EGR valve back on (had to come off for access as the cooler is directly behind and beneath it). I tried with just the one bolt but when driving it sounds like R2-D2 is having very nasty things done to him, So currently EGR Valve bypassed by having the system blanked where the exhaust fumes come in and valve unplugged. So now have EML on.

Turbo still wooshing but I am just driving on, either the variable vanes are coked up OR a blade is chipped, or there is wear in the bearings. I know that wear in the bearings would be death for the focus if they went so I am sourcing either a known good 2nd hand turbo or a recon (for some reason recon prices seem to have jumped at the moment for them).

When I fit the turbo, I will either get the manifold re-tapped or just buy a used one from the bay so that I can bolt the EGR Valve back on properly.

also just ordered a new aerial base with aerial as the radio has never had good signal and it's a common weak spot as they corrode.

Update to let you all know where this stands at the moment.

Thank you all for the congratulations, our little girl really is a bundle of joy.

This Friday, if all goes well, I'll be picking up another project, the new project and this focus are going to be sorted and sold so that I can put the money towards something I actually want to own.

I will be ordering a Turbo and Manifold for this focus to make sure it is spot on for the next potential owner, I know it'd be perfect for me to keep but if I had paid as much as I will have done by the time I've done those things....I wouldn't have bought a Focus in the first place. This was after all, a bangernomics project and I've just been unlucky with it.

So, when the new car comes on Friday, I'll SORN the Focus and get my hands dirty to fix the faults which I will document properly for you in here with pictures and then fresh MOT and it'll be up for sale.

Since my last update, I have put 2 new Goodyear Efficient Grip tyres on the rear so now it has all 4 matching premium tyres which suit the car well.

I've also got a new remote keyfob as the original just stopped working. I couldn't get the new keyfob to pair with the car as the focus wouldn't go into learning mode, I managed to get it to work by pulling the plug and reinserting for the central locking into the gem module/in car fuse board and that made it want to learn. Apparently it'll only take so many 'Pairings' before you have to go to a dealer, how true that is I don't know but this workaround fixed it or was a fluke and got lucky for once!

I have also put a new aerial and base on, common issue on these water gets in around the base of the ariel and corrodes the threads to the mast and the connection in the car so you get no radio reception, it's a job I just never got round to but I got a bit bored of listening to ed sheerans new album on repeat (which if anybody wants to book me for a gig, whether I can sing or not I don't know but I do know all the words).

I would like to refurb the alloys before going up for sale so that it's even better looking but I've got my sights set on turning this and the next project around so I can get on with a quality build/project that I actually want to do so probably won't get done.

Update Time.

OK so...I got the other project, which I will start a new thread on but that is going to be going in for MOT on Monday and I'm dropping it off tonight, so I'll start that and give a state of play when I know what I'm dealing with.

Plans changed for the Focus because after driving that new car.....the focus feels like a well sorted sports car in comparison.

So the focus has been MOT'd and not sorned as previously planned and I have an inlet manifold arriving today. On the MOT they think the wooshing noise that has tormented me is either a crack or failed gasket somewhere so I have held off ordering a turbo.

I'll be able to do a proper tear down with pics with the manifold and see if I can find where it's been wooshing from as i'll have access to the entire turbo and exhaust manifold area.

But....hopefully Sunday...I'll have another car that is not so much a bangernomics car (if you've seen my thread in the motors section) and be more a toy project rather than a banger project. So will need to sell the focus and the other project car as I'll have 4 cars then
