Using finishing pad with heavy compound!!!

Hi all,

i was shocked the other day - i was doing a 2day detail on one of my families cars (it was only washed by the good old 'wire brush' washers in car park)
waxed maybe 1time every 2years!!!!
its a 1996 white peugeot (will post pics up in other part of forum)

bUT ANYWAY:

The amount of oxidation on the car was unbelievable for its age (it was going GREY) It destroyed 2 of my menzerna pads (cutting pad + polishing pad)
all i had left was a finishing pad and for some reason i worked the compound for an extra 2/3passes and it came out just as good as the cutting pad did.

I was shocked at this.

Just a random bit of information and i dont know why they would both have a similar effect.

Maybe you only cut the oxidation off, you can achieve this by hand, it will not have the same paint correction effect as the other 2 pads had..
