Holiday Destination Requests

All,

Struggling to pin point a destination for next Easter or July - it will be me, my partner (partner is a deputy head so has to be out of term) and our 12 month old little boy (will be 18 Months+ at time of holiday)

Would like:

somewhere child friendly
near a beach - ideally so we can take the little one paddling (nice beach - Sardinia is on my list of destinations purely for the beaches)
nice food (local restaurants close by))
good drink
good weather (approx 25)
safe... (no Egypt etc)
places to go/things to do etc
Ideally no more than 4-5 hours

My issue is is that there are too many places id like to go to, choices and hotels. It would be nice for someone to just say we went here... and thought this...

Price wise - looking at anywhere between £1200-1500 all in?

I think if you want 100% safe then stay at home. There doesn't appear anywhere that falls into the safe bracket now. Everywhere has elements where you need to be vigilant.

We've been favouring the greek islands for the last few hols. We did go Portugal, spain, Majorca but they have got relatively expensive now

The Mrs and I are off to Malta on Saturday, we're going to be two clicks away from the largest beach on the island and a few minutes walk from the ferry to Gozo, safe as anything and being so close to Italy the food is going to be great (along with the wine hopefully!)

happy to update next weekend when i'm back (fatter and browner no doubt)

Always liked Portugal, you'll find pretty much everything there and it's set up for families and many areas too.

The south of France is so hard to Beat , so many easy accessible day trips we have been when kids were young and was great.
Also Italy must be up there as well

get on trip adviser and search child friendly hotels, also how about a med cruise ? with day trips of to some nice beaches.
I always like a hotel with good pool and friendly staff and easily accessible to transport, but what I or other member like might not be exactly what you like.
for me you need to drill into reviews and ignore the nonsence 1 star reviews for squeaky doors and noise one day while a wedding at the hotel.
good luck with your hunt

We (me,missus and 3 daughters) have had lots of great holidays in the South of France and northern Italy - Nice across to San Remo area. Beaches are lovely but may get a little crowded out of school term.

Majorca is also good. We stayed at the H10 hotel about 1.5/2 miles west of Portal Nous. In terms of location, about 20 mins in a car from Palma airport. Portal Nous has some great bars and restaurants although some are mega pricey due to the marina and yacht folk. H10 has a small private sandy beach and 2 pools - one for adults only the other for kids. If you preferred a lively night out, Magaluf is only 2 miles west of the hotel but I must confess we never ventured there at night but the beach is huge and sandy and the kids loved it in the day.

TBH, a lot of the Spanish resorts near Alicante will also suit you especially as you could find a villa with a shared pool within your budget. The beaches there are also great.

Cheers
