Mini test of products

It takes me an age to do anything. I deep cleaned my winter wheels a couple of weekends ago and have finally got round to applying protection of choice. Thought I'd better put them on before winter is fully over

Each wheel has a different LSP and tyre dressing, nothing scientific just thought it would be fun to see how they fare. I have C5 on my main wheels so it's been interesting for me to compare a few different products in terms of application.

All things being equal the wheels go on tomorrow.

Following combos:-

CarPro DLUX with Gyeon Tire

FK1000p with Megs Endurance

AF Mint Rims with high gloss tyre dressing from Beaver Care

BMD Revolutions with Orchard Auto Care Glitz

Like I say nothing scientific here just a little fun. Some products will be very familiar to some and some possibly unknown or not tried.

Pics to follow tomorrow, the lighting in my cellar combined with iPhone = poor pics.

This is going to be extremely interesting really forward to the results

This is a proper scientific test as the limits of the products will tested to the extreme in the uk weather.

Option 1 will easily out do the others on both wheel and tire

Haha

Well dlux is a ceramic ive seen very long durability from and gyeon tire is one of the longest lasting dressings I've ever used. The other isn't on test

I suspect you may well be right

Main wheels have C5 on and that's my only prior experience of a ceramic. They clean up easily with warm water, shampoo and variety of brushes but what I'm interested in trying to find out is how much better a ceramic coating is over a sealant/wax. Doubt I'll answer longevity question as they won't be on long enough but will get an idea hopefully.

I suspect DLUX will be comparable to the C5 but I found it more difficult to apply or more accurately buff once applied. Undoubtedly user error but I don't pretend to be a pro just an enthusiast.

Of the other 3 FK was the easiest to apply but not much in it. Quite like the finish FK seems to impart on wheels but again will be good to see in the light of day rather than my dingy cellar. Revolutions wins on smell.

Gyeon Tire has been my favourite dressing for a good while and I've tried a fair few now. I know Megs has a lot of fans but next to the others it didn't look great, again maybe light of day will help.

Have quite a few more dressings could have looked to but thought it was a fairly eclectic mix to try against one another.

Wheels were fitted today, finally

Fading light and rubbish iPhone pics but here we go...not that many either I'd used up a bit of time cleaning the car as it was minty and SWMBO was boring holes into the back of my head.

1st up

DLUX with Tire fitted to FOS

Next up FK with Megs fitted to ROS

Followed by Mint Rims and Beaver to RNS

Finally FNS is wearing BMD and Glitz

Main wheels stacked and waiting to be cleaned up before being put to bed for a few weeks, months who knows with this weather

Products used, don't think I've missed any...blue liquid in spritzer is Eraser...

Used my 2 tonne trolley jack from SGS good piece of kit, torque wrench from Aldi seems like quality gear and car had 2 tonne axle stand in place just in case with wheels chocked as appropriate, safety first.

Car will cover at least 250 miles in the week and at best will get a clean every other week maybe less. Let's see what happens...

Garage
Noticed the Mint Rims appears to have more shine/reflection in the spokes than the others
Or could it just be the angle the photo was taken.

The pics are terrible I'm sorry about that

To my eye there's not a great deal in it at this point, perhaps the FK looks a little more 'glassy' than the others. If I'm being honest I quite like that look.

For this time of year aesthetics are not a priority for me but a bonus just hoping they all last
