Different cars deploy is differently.

Unless you're doing handbrake turns they usually work well once you've worked them out.

A double jab of the brakes works really well with the Mercs.

I prefer the EPB in day to day driving. Its convenient.

However, the downside is that for the first few weeks you keep pumping down with your foot if you had a foot operated parking brake before, or keep looking for the handbrake lever if had a handbrake previously.

Personally prefer hand brake. Although when I drive my brothers golf, I easily adjust to the EPB

I'm going to throw another option - depends on where the EPB is - my previous Audi was where the handbrake should be, so quite happy to have either, wife's Merc is under steering column to right and is a right PIA when wanting to use it when driving...

This will get like the manual v auto/DCT box argument.

Slowly the former will take over.

My GTi has an EPB but i can't park it for any length of time without the brakes locking on, would rather have a handbrake

Mine just switches on and off when I come to a standstill, so don't have to use the physical button.
