A few of our guys here have used the Perfect Palm Applicator for applying HD Wax and says it works well. You will need to ensure the applicator is dampened prior to applying the wax, and due to the shape of the Palm Applicator it can be trickier to use than the pads supplied within the kit.
You will also need to remember that once the Palm Applicator has been used to apply HD Wax it will have to be used soley for this purpose in future, as the waxes are hard to remove from the sponge.
Hi everyone, just thought I should take the chance to add my two-penneth.
I really like the wax, but, it seems like most people, I struggle a bit with the applicators, they seem to be too thin and fold over easily. This makes gripping them quite difficult without pinching in the middle, so I end up with a line of wax in the crease on the bottom side of the applicator.
I've come up with an ingenious solution tho, I use this for doing the A and B pillars on my cars, with the sponges bent in half!
Well, my wax has been on over three months now, and is showing signs of letting stuff stick and being harder to clean now. The last 4 weeks I haven't really touched the car, so maybe that has helped the elements finish it off. The last time I washed it, the bonnet and boot/rear bumper (3 coats over clay/srp prep), were still washing off nicely all bird poo, tree sap and so on.
I think a good couple of coats, layered maybe an hour apart, as a top-up ever two months, should keep it looking really nice and fresh and easy to clean.
Just such hard work doing the prep initially, and then doing the pre-layering prep... that can almost feel like your best off just going back to SRP passes again before new wax.
Definately a great wax, just need to work out the best ways to use it I suppose.
I loved the applicators..Found them easy to use and gave me great control.
The buffing was a bit of pain...Needed much more effort than the SRP.
Had a problem though...The hood had some "blurred stains"...Trying waxing again but no change so I reapplied SRP to remove the wax.Hood looked great. After waxing again some "stains" appeared again..Any tips?Could I have done sth wrong?
I've just tried putting a layer of HD wax on with some Megs applicator pads.
Whilst they left a far thinner layer at the start, I found that they became more difficult to use as they started to dry out. This ultimately resulted in a thicker layer of wax being left on the car, albeit not as thick as that left by the red AG pads supplied with the wax.
The red AG pads do stay more moist for longer. Their use does, though, make the wax more difficult to buff off and results in excess product being used.
Would there be any scope in using a QD or even AG Aquawax to help buff the wax off?
I e-mailed Autoglym for advice (possibly using HDW) on protecting new car paintwork. Never got a reply. Do any posters have advice: a good idea? Another product as well?
Thanks.
I used this today for the first time and really liked it. I found it easy to use, though I think the applicator dried out halfway round the car and made it harder to remove, changed applicators and it was back to easy use.
What do you suggest instead ? The only easier on/off paste wax I have come across so far is the R222 100% (aka P21s 100%) not that the others are remarkably hard to use, and not a selling point or reason not to buy either
It is hard to suggest a time for cure as the ambient conditions will have an effect, many paste products though you will get to apply to a panel or 2 before it is time to buff off, the nice thing with AG HD and few others is that you can go over the whole car before having to worry about buffing it off, but if IIRC, 10-15 mins was the manaufacturers suggested cure time for AG HD :thumb:
I'm sure HD can challenge FK1000p head on, no need for the 2 products :thumb:
