Detailing News - Saxon Brands Mongol Rally-
Team Zazgar & the Mongol Rally 2017
Saxon Brands are keen to introduce Team Zazgar; a group of four ambitious hopefuls looking to drive a tiny car 10,000 miles from London to Mongolia as part of the 2017 Mongol Rally.
For those not familiar with the event, The Mongol Rally claims to be the “greatest motoring adventure on the planet” challenging entrants to buy a car as cheap as possible & then drive through 25 countries, 8 time zones, 3 deserts with the aim of raising a minimum of £1000 for charity.
John; affectionately known as Frick (top left), Jack (top right), Tom (bottom left) & Helena (bottom right) make up Team Zazgar and have known each other since their childhoods and have decided to take on the challenge aiming to raise £5000 to support two charities which are close to the team’s hearts; Martlets Hospice and Cool Earth. Discussing the event with Tom he states “None of us have any particular skills that will be useful for the Rally. None of us know much about car mechanics, we know very few languages between us and we’re pretty useless with maps and directions. Our only merit is we know which way East is!.”
Checking out the rules on the Mongol Rally pages, entrants are known as Adventurists and there is certainly no messing about with the 3 simple rules. 1. Take any car provided it’s a banger and the smaller/cheaper the better. The organisers explicitly state “It's no fun if it's too easy. If you want easy go for a spa weekend. With a small car, you're more likely to break down so you're more likely to interact with the locals, so you can remind yourself you're alive without jamming a fork into your eyeballs.” Rule 2. On your own. Rule 3. Save the world.
The event description, although exceedingly light hearted is also genuinely dangerous and the event organisers do not underestimate the personal risk involved in this charity event. However Team Zazgar, apparently meaning old hairy man in Mongolian, have gained the support of Saxon brands to help them successfully complete the challenge in one piece. As there is no assistance, no set route, back up or support its essential the team are prepared for all eventualities. Fix-A-Flat puncture repair kits will help with inevitable tyre issues en-route, a SAKURA jump starter could be the lifesaver they need one cold morning in the desert & Little Trees are keeping the car fresh throughout their adventure. Saxon brands are keen to promote the Team to other potential companies with the aim of obtaining as many of their mechanical essentials needed to keep their car in action throughout their trip as possible.
Ambitious Team Zazgar are excited to be taking part in such an adventurous challenge. Saxon look forward to keeping up to date with their adventures from the safety of a living room in Blighty.
