IPA will remove polishing oils etc, but it won't remove old wax or LSP effectively. It also doesn't really clean the paint, just degreases the surface.

The SP Paint Cleaner is a good one but whether you'll get a bottle of it in time for the weekend now, I don't know. That said, Alex is a top lad and he may be able to help you out, drop him a message.

I must admit I don't find the paint on mine too soft. I've only ever given mine a good polish once and a quick going over with Menz 2500 to take out some very fine swirls - that's in over 7 years. Good wash routine means the thing hardly ever picks up defects. Mind you, the weather is much better over here, which I'm sure makes life easier.

Just checking in to say 'hi' as a Mk2 Focus ST owner!

Interesting thread, I recently bought a DA polisher and Menzerna products and was hoping to break them out today, unfortunately other commitments have come up

I have some swirls I'd like to sort out, but to be honest I feel I've managed to not make the paint any worse over the year I've had it. Always used two bucket method and recently been using snow foam.

I flippin' love my ST!

This thread has made me reflect on how much I miss my old st.....
I didn't find my paint particularly soft, but then im.not an expert.
Are u using a DA?
As others have said a good wash technique helps , I spent years on here trying all sorts of products and burning a hole in my bank balance.
There's an old thread somewhere from when I was getting really stuck in with my first DA.
My opinion is get a good solid lsp, of you're choosing and that may help reduce you're swirls from washing, I found the show type waxes and cheaper brands offered little in the way of protecting the paint, look good for a short while tho.
Probly be hammered for saying that but hey ....
Best of luck

Must admit, its my first ford and the exact one i wanted. Past year has been expensive with after a short time of purchasing inhad to flatbed it up to dreamscience to find out the previous owners garage had fitted a water pump with plastic propellers so had block mod done, new pump, cambelt, front drive shafts, etc etc and a few tweeks. Just had RS clutch done too and so far overall loving it.
