New Pressure Washer Needed?

I have quite an old pressure washer - a Karcher 550MS. I believe has a 1500psi and 1.7gpm. I've been using the auto finesse snow foam Lance with this, and no matter the amount of soap seems to create quite watery foam.
I've used autofinesse snow foam, they recommend around 200ml of soap, I've used as much as 400ml and still isn't thick. Tried dodo juice as well, whilst better still not great. The dial on my cannon is all the way to the minus (IE maximum soap and minimum water). Yet the foam produced is quite thin and runs off the car in a minute, if that. Not long enough to dwell.

Just wondering if this old pressure washer is too "weak" for the Lance. Whether it is time to buy a new one?

Have you tried cleaning or replacing the wipe cause in the snow foam gun/attachment? When these get blocked the foam goes watery.

As Davie says try stripping it down and cleaning/descaling it - It should be wire gauze not wipe cause on his reply obviously predictive text

There's lots of threads on here if you do a search you'll find a guide it's relatively straightforward

I'd definitely be trying that before shelling out on a new PW.

Can only add to the above, strip and clean the foam gun and try again.

Presume your pressure washer is working as it should without the foam gun attached ?

Again, agree with the above. Sounds like the foam gun is blocked inside and not drawing enough snow foam solution. I doubt it's the pressure washer's fault.

Old story, someone came to me with this same story, they had very hard water in their area, their PW was able to work from a bucket, soft water cured the problem.

Cheers Macca/Davie. I'll have a look. I've only had the foam cannon a couple months so I guess I'd assumed it wouldn't be something this straightforward!

Yeah, decent pressure! Has a variable pressure hose attachment. Works fine.

In fairness I've had mine for years and done nothing to it and it still works fine but others on here have had bother. It depends on a variety of things I believe including water hardness.

As said I'd definitely try stripping and cleaning/descaling it if the pressure washer works ok otherwise

God luck and let us know how you get on.

Hopefully it’s just the foam gun and needs a clean. If you clean it and no success, I’d see if you could borrow another, just to double check
