They may well sub out the MOT to another garage, a few do that here. They will drive the car over themselves and then bring it back when done.

Yeah - had a detailed read of them when they came out and again last night, but there is virtually no mention of what they have flagged up and I think a different tester would probably laugh at both the items they have flagged up!

I was aiming for zero advisories but at least the car maintains itís 100% pass rate over itís life - can always aim for the no advisories as a target again for next year

Yeah, my Lexus dealer does that (there is one testing station serving Lexus, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes etc).

I was surprised a small local garage does that though, and especially as there are at least 4 MOT testing stations within a mile of the garage and they have probably passed at least a dozen stations to get to the one they used. Assume they have other a business link or a deal with that one.

Letís me know to just use one of the other local stations instead.

When I had the MOT done on my Mercedes in February it came back with an advisory which states "Zero smoke emissions @8.13am". In short the emissions are so low that they can't be measured, so they have to put a note in the advisory section. Annoying because having such low emissions is clearly a good thing but no doubt somebody will flag it come sale time. I queried it at the time, and as has been mentioned, they do it just to cover themselves.

Talking of MOT stations a drive away, in the paperwork for my Mini the previous owner got charged £22.50 +VAT fee by her choice of garage for them to drive it to the MOT test centre and back again, a journey of just 4.5 miles each way. Ironically she would have driven right past this MOT test centre on her way to drop the car off for the work to be done.
