56k Icon Focus ST post modification rectification (and reader test)

Read to the end for the test

This car belongs to the son of the tangerine scream owner from last year. They do a dad and lad thing at ford shows, lord knows we need more of that at present

After the usual pleasantries it was placed in the surgery

And then taped up to protect sensitive areas and collect the massive amount of compounding dust about to be produced

I then stripped the vehicle down as best as possible for better access

Removed the shark fin also, to be replaced

Now to work. The whole car had been painted at one time or another. The black roof, pleasingly was painted also and not a wrap.
The job description was to rid the car of all the flatting marks, ro marks, swirling and scratching. Some panels were worse than others and we decided to try to get the whole car to an 8
Due to the type of scratching and flatting I opted for wool on the rotex and flex. The whole car was done with Detailing Kingdom 1.2 and finale

Roof first, hopefully you can see the level of defect on the spoiler area. This is still unrefined to show the level of finishing from the DK 1.1

More RO marks right on the arch edge

On to the bumper, deep flatting marks left behind, to a totally matte finish

More than just holograms on the bonnet too

DSC_0269 by Matt Rowe, on Flickr

Riverside was completely littered with even RO marks robbing it of all gloss

The rear did not escape either

DSC_0308 by Matt Rowe, on Flickr

Now onto the gloss blacks. These too were littered with sanding marks and overspray. Took multiple hits with wool to get to the afters. Remember, still unrefined

Now time for a dust down and refining. Done with the same machines and DK finale on finishing pads.

The car was then ready for waxing. What else for a solid warm colour that needs gloss other than backfire midnight sun. after a couple of coats the car was rebuilt and ready for collection

And finally some from the owner at tescos lol

So now to the test, any eagle eyed readers able to say what the absolute biggest modification is on this car?

Yep, it's an ecoboost with different bumpers.

I wonder why it's had a repaint?

Its massively modified, and they wanted various bits done to make it all match. I love the fact they have done ut together and done it right. We need more father son activity I think. The owner is only 17/18, can you imagine having a car that looks like that at that age?
