S type project at 17?!



i'm Henry a young jaguar mad fool training to be a auto mechanic.

this'll explain the techie posts

This story started around 2 years ago when i spotted a Bargain Radiance Red 2005 Jaguar S type on the bay of E

118k full spec'd SE
minus sunroof and satnav.

NOW I KNOW INSURANCE IS CRIPPLING.
THIS WAS ABOUT SAVING A LOVELY JAG FROM A HORRIBLE DEATH




THIS IS HER A FEW WEEKS AGO AFTER A GOOD POLISH.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with the project but you need to resize your images its a nightmare to read

Next was Some surface corrosion to deal with on the front subframe.







All scraped off and treated with Hammerite rust primer!




then painted with hammerite underseal.
truly horrific picture unfortunately lol

The trim by the Windscreen is a notorious dirt/rust trap on S types.

I removed mine to see what horrors lay beneath.....






RUST!! scraped off.







Next the was painted with zinc primer ^^







Then The radiance red top coat, not brilliant but better than rust! ^^

Next was a faulty coolant temperature sensor.

But with it being a Jag she's wasn't letting me off that easily.


Its fairly straight forward to do

#1 remove air intake tubes

#2 drain off the coolant in the expansion tank

#3 be prepaired for the worst.


whoops. i tapped that bit of plastic with my finger and it broke off!!

lol




So i go surfing for a new plastic pipe, £10 nooo

£80 later i have this!!

Not keen on the S types (from this period in time) although I do like a nice Jag, and this looks like it’s got potential. Now subscribed to see how this pans out.
