I know what you mean about the weather, unless you've got a double garage, its hard to do much work on your car this summer, at least its keeping the mileage down.

Yeah I know what you mean, where I live we've got a double garage but its filled with so much of their stuff, I've managed to create a space for my tool chest and detailing stuff.

You'll see on the pictures from when I serviced it, the door actually splits in two so I can get the front half of the car in, just need to do a bit more rearranging till I can get more of it in or even a mk1 golf but we shall see

So on monday I met up with a good friend of mine who helped me fit my new gfb dv+

Front wheel removed and arch liner removed. On ko3 cars the diverter valve is located near the turbo, the oem dv diaphragm is made of rubber and can be known to split due to the heat coming from the turbo. They then changed the location on of the dv on ko4 cars to the front of the engine to stop this from happening.

The old diaphragm was fine, no tears but just a nice upgrade to do, knowing this one is much more robust!

Yesterday I had my timing chain and tensioner replaced, the old one was starting to rattle a bit, noticeable on idle when it was up to temperature.

Cams locked in place with correct vw locking tool

New chain and tensioner fitted

The car is now much quieter than before, it didn't necercassirly need doing yet however this is more for my peace of mind and its nice knowing its been done.

Whilst having the timing chain done it gave me chance to look at the underside of the car. It turns out I've not got a cat back exhaust. Ive got a full turbo back miltek exhaust with sports cat I couldn't believe it! The last owner was quite clued up it seems!!
