MG ultimate compound and G3 applicator
Hello all. Long time lurker, minimal poster.
I've ordered some MG Ultimate Compound to see if I can rid my car of some swirl marks as I can't afford a DA at the moment. I've been doing a lot of searching and reading about it's application and think I have it. Question is, can I use the G3 Applicator Waffle Pads [the white one] to apply the product or should I use one of those little yellow applicator pads? I know I should do a spot test at first, not work in big areas and not let the product dry. I've read this - https://meguiarsonline.com/forums/sh...my-paint/page1 - and don't want to end up with messed up paint. I have a Volvo V50 in Barents Blue. The paint seems to be in decent condition, but as I say, has loads of swirls. This is the car in question ![]() I plan on doing a full wash and decon before using it, not sure if I can call it a detail without using a DA but my plan of action is to; Rinse, snow foam, rinse, bucket wash, de-tar & iron out, rinse, clay bar, rinse and dry, Ultimate compound, Tripple, AG EGP, then 476 wax. Any advice/pointers will be most welcome. |

Depends how much you want to correct. The yellow meguiars applicators won't cut that well but will leave a nice finish. The white G3 applicator is a lot more coarse and will do a better job but may on softer more delicate paints leave a haze or marring. With megs ultimate compound the white pad would be my choice but be prepared to follow up with a more gentle polish and pad like megs ultimate polish and the black G3 pad or yellow megs pad.

Yellow Dave is spot on.
I've used the G3 white pads for polishing and the Black G3 for applying Wax and think they are superb. I would definitely follow the ultimate compound with ultimate polish Lovely Volvo by the way |

Autofinnese Tripple is superb and i used it for first time recently and was amazed with the results, just make sure you top it with a nice wax.

Is that not the process - polish, glaze/sealant, wax? |
