Finally got a bit of dry weather (but still very windy). I'm going to snow foam and rinse the car today (no contact wash unfortunately). Should I leave it to dry itself or pat dry it with a drying towel? Don't want to rub any more dirt into it!
I'm talking personally here but i would rather not bother because you'll either end up with swirls inflicted from drying or water marks and grit infused droplets either way.
If you can't get to the wash stage leave it but as i say this is my opinion on it.
(Un)luckily the car is already swirled (which will be corrected in future) so I will probably dry it. If it hadn't though I'd probably leave it to dry itself (in this case). Thanks.
Make sure you have removed all traces of dirt before drying down, if you have some cotton swabs or pads to try in some inconspicuous areas to test for dirt levels otherwise you risk rubbing all them fine particles into your paint work. If you want to do this ide recommend using something like ONR (optimum no rinse) as a drying aid or as a wash method after snow foaming or using filtered water to rinse then you could leave with out touching it to dry naturally.
always best to foam and then wash, i used to only foam and then dry the car with a drying aid ie. quick detailer and the drying towel always picked up a little bit of dirt...
i then started to foam the car and then 2 bucket wash and there was still some dirt in the rinse bucket after the foam had been rinsed off
This above :thumb: but TBH if I couldn't wash it then I definitely wouldn't be touching it after a pre wash at all:wall: regardless how dirty the car is.
Yes your car will probably need correcting soon as you say, but why inflict more damage to your paint doesn't make sense.
If you can get hold of deionised or distilled water for the rinse (or if you are lucky enough to be in a ludicrously soft water area) you could probably escape drying it at all.
But nothing will come close to a meticulous 3 bucket wash
