No, no knocking or banging from the beam, I'm pretty sure it's had recent mounts.....will be checking anyway....

So, got the heat shield stripped which was a dusty, rusty, noisy affair but it's done...

Generously applied Kurust going blue and purple doing its thing.......

A Sunday dinner appointment at my parents means I'm stopping here......hopefully get it primered with some anti rust zinc primer tonight.....

Thought I'd best work off some dinner calories....

2 coats of anti rust primer, 2 of normal primer. That's now drying overnight. Will pick up some silver paint on the way home from work tomorrow and wet flat then paint tomorrow night I think.....gets me out of the house....

One little part has reacted, not sure why. I'll resolve that tomorrow too.

The big decision bit comes next.....I want to do the entire underside in the same fashion...strip to bare metal, prepare and protect and then paint Cherry red. But I'm also thinking it's gonna be easier on a roll over jig but that means the engine needs to come out. I wanted to do the engine bay anyway so I might go down this route.

It's a lot of work but I think the end results would be worth it.

Great work mate. Absolutely love these cars.

Used to have a black Gti-6 and wish I'd never sold it.
