Uk car rental

I hope to make the journey over in the next month or two for a week in the Epping area and rent a car for a little bit of travel . Does anyone have any suggestions where is the least hassle place to rent a car without a CC or If I can pay with a non present friends CC ?.

I have looked on turo but 100 miles per day is a bit of a pain

Thanks
H

Enterprise car hire don’t have a mileage limit as far as I know. They asked where I was going when I collected was all.

I hired from them last year when I moved my daughter from a London to Edinburgh - left Lancashire Saturday morning, drive to London, packed up the car and headed off to Edinburgh. Stayed overnight in Edinburgh and I headed home Sunday afternoon. 4 miles short of 1000 in 2 days and nothing at all was said when I returned the car Monday morning

Not sure if you can hire it on a normal card or need a credit card - have a look at their on line site or give them a quick bell.

Enjoy your holiday

Enterprise are very ‘no hassle’ in my experience. I had a Focus for 2 weeks last year, which turned into 6 weeks, but it was never a problem and you can collect and drop off the car from pretty much anywhere to make it more convenient for you. I racked up around 3k miles in 6 weeks, but they never mentioned it. I did take the car back cleaner and better polished that they gave it to me (I wasn’t going to clean it at all, but after 2 weeks, my cleaning OCD kicked in ).

I've used Thifty car hire the last few times and been happy.

I've even booked cars on a one way hire only for things to go wrong and need a return trip too. They were good with that and charged me the same day rate and not a more expensive last minute rate.

The lack of credit card is going to make your choices far more limited.

A credit card is a thing well worth having. Used properly they don't cost anything and offer you far more buying protection and options.

Also had good results from enterprise, use the phone in reservation service, easier and same price as an online booking, good choice of cars and vans and price is competitive.

Large deductible, from memory £1000, although I think you can buy insurance to reduce it to something more manageable.

If you dont have a credit card I think you can arrange a PAYG type credit card and put some cash on it.

ETA. Just had a look for you and I was wrong, pre paid cards are not generally accepted and a credit card must be in your name. This link may help

When I've rented in the past, if I didn't have my CC on me, they just used to deduct the money from my current account, then return it when I returned the vehicle. Most should offer this, as there are people who don't want/can't have a CC
