My new Karcher K5

Hi guys,

Just ordered a Karcher K5 Premium Full Control pw from Screwfix, reduced to £280 from around £340 - a really good deal, I think. I decided I couldn't afford/justify Kranzle.

I have two questions:

1. Has anyone used one and have I done the right thing?

2. Should I buy the Karcher FJ10 foam adaptor, or get a more 'proper' one from a dedicated manufacturer? Heard quite mixed reviews!

Thanks!
Nick.

I recently upgraded fro k2 to the K7 full control and its fantastic, however I would not consider using the foam adaptor, just get a proper one from the numerous choices out there, I have an autobrite one, but also an ultimate finish one.

I have the previous model k5.

Good machine, adequate enough for a weekend warrior like me.

I wouldn't trouble with the karcher snow foam attachment

I bought the one from Imran at in2detailing it is much better quality and performance. Only £20 as well

I did exactly the same as you, I couldn't justify the Kranzle money and got a K5 at a bargain price because of a damaged box. I cant comment on the performance as I haven't used it yet as the weather has been rubbish.

As others have said don't buy the Karcher snow foam lance as there are many others to choose from, I use the in2detailing one and have been happy with it when I had the K2 washer, saying that I wouldnt mind trying the MTM PF22 one.

Get yourself a dedicated snow foam lance.

I have the K5 and its pretty decent, only thing i dont like is the nozzle so i kept the old one off the k2 and it seems to be more powerful.

Ive got a K5 & I hate it,,,it takes ages for the motor to kick in even with good pressure from tap,,Ive tried running the water through 1st with the pw turned off to sort of bleed it but that hasn’t made any difference. Also now when I connect the snowfoam lance to the end it doesn’t work at all,I have to push it on with the trigger pulled.

FWIW nilfisk all day long for me i have an e145 but newer model i think is an e150 its £290 so a tenner more expensive. Pretty much same spec as K5 except 150 bar instead or 145. same flow rate. what sold it for me over karcher is the rubber anti kink hose - it's miles better. had karchers for years and decent machines but for whatever reason they never seem to last long, my nilfisk takes some hammer and been great so far - it weights a tonne though as the induction motors are hefty things - I'll be getting a P150 next time round.
