SRP > Extra Gloss Protection or HD Wax? Questions

Hi,

Currently using AG bodywork shampoo, Super resin polish, and then sealing with extra gloss protection.

I've never used a wax before, so have been looking at AG HD Wax.

Am I likely to get better results using the Wax? So going shampoo > SRP > HD Wax.

Will it last longer than extra gloss protection?

Many thanks!!
Tom

I would go for the EGP. Its easy on and easy off. It's quicker to apply and buff off. HD wax is good. My best tip for EGP is to put some in a spray bottle and mist it on to the applicator as a thin layer works best. It's pretty much going to destroy the spray head. But it makes application easier. The curing time needs to extend in cold weather. Trade version Liquid Hard Wax works out cheaper.

I've already coated the car a month or 2 back with EGP. Whilst I'm impressed I just wondered if HD Wax would be 'better' for longevity?

As it could always be one for the Christmas list haha

Thanks for replies so far..

Another question about SRP and EGP. I haven't done anything to my car apart from wash and Aqua Wax for about a year now. Its not because I am lazy (well, a little bit), more so that I haven't driven the car much to get it dirty enough to do anything else!

Do these products lose the effectiveness through washing cycles, or is it time since last applied? Due to an injury I have only driven the car less than a dozen times in about 6 months.

HD Wax will be superior on the longer durability than EGP, EGP contains carnauba but is alot lower than HD Wax, EGP is very identical to autofinesse tough coat I have found.

The longest I have EGP is 5 weeks but it's my aera and terrain where I am situated, still have 2 bottles in my collection and use it frequently when needed great on solid blacks.

I have used both over SRP on a few different cars.

HD Wax gives a deeper, warmer glow to the cars finish and EGP gives a slightly flatter and colder, glassy finish. I think you would probably say that HD wax gives a more impressive look overall.

In terms of durability, EGP should give an easy 3 months plus and HD wax can go up to 6 months. I am working on the basis of fresh SRP or clean paint underneath and 2 thin coats of EGP or HD wax on top of that.

You can put HD wax over the top of EGP and it will work fine. You can put Aquawax over the top of either and that will work fine too.

Thanks for the replies chaps, that's sort of what I was hoping for, a more durable longer lasting coat.

One for the christmas list sorted then!
