That'll be what's known as a marketing exercise I would think!

Well it was available to the public but as you’d expect they sold in tiny numbers. Few people want a V8 people carrier that costs £75k!

All the German marques seem do the same....offering to fill a niche that doesn't appear need filling...I know it's giving the customer the choice, but some are just silly.

Haha exactly. 'Here's a solution to a problem you never had!'

Certainly the R63 isn't a car for the UK market even if it was available here. I was chatting to a mate about them the other day and he mentioned them likely being more for the US market, which would be more likely as they love a V8 over there.

I think I'll stick with V8 saloons for the time being or in this case a V6 diesel haha.

Tiny update on the CLS today. Same as with my E Class, I ordered some blinds from CarShades.co.uk and fitted them in the CLS earlier on.

Again, very impressed and ideal for carrying little people in the rear. Can still see out but feels far more private, much like normal window tints.

Slightly different fit to my E Class as the windows are frameless but fit well. Just can't put the rear windows down with these fitted.

Rear windows blindes are made up of two parts so there is a join down the middle.

Should keep things cooler and glare free when the sun eventually comes out.

Had a bit of a saga with the CLS at the weekend. One of the rear tyres had a slow puncture but was holding out, until the quality British roads got the better of it. Once large pot hole resulted in a burst tyre about a mile from home.

With our 3 month old in the car as well, I advised my other half to just drive slowly back assuming it was a puncture. Nope, tyre completely knackered and no spare in the car. Of course, we didn't realise this until two tyres were winging their way to a local fitter from BlackCircles, who proved pretty tricky to get in touch with.

So, local recovery service were called. It looked a bit sorry for itself heading off in the snow last weekend.

So on Monday, I braced myself for the cold, pressure washed the snow off the car and cleaned it (along with my E Class!).

So it's clean, has two new Vredesteins fitted on the rear. Bring on the spring!!!

Well it's been a few months since I last updated this thread. Slight contrast in the weather since then too, last time I was freezing this time I'm cooking!

Had a slight niggle last weekend. The window had been making a really odd creaking noise when it lowered, even a tiny bit for opening the door. The window finally decided it was going to stay 4" from closing whilst we were 130 miles from home. So a roll of gaffa tape got us home.

My trusted mechanic took the door apart to find this mess of cabling.

So £175 for the part from Mercedes and about an hours labour, it was sorted.

Today I got round to cleaning the car inside and out, quick hand polish and a layer of wax next time round. Still making a great family car now my youngest is over 6 months old.
