Mk2 Golf GTI number 2

We're do I start well this is my second mk2 golf gti I bought my first mk2 golf gti when I was 19. I had it for 2 years and Sadly on the way home one cold wet night I thought I was Lewis Hamilton and smashed it up lucky no one was hurt and I walked away.

What the car looked like before I crashed it a lot of work went into it. It was an 8 valve it was fully polybushed ,coilovers, the list is endless.

The next car I owned was a Fabia vrs had it for 6 months and didn't love it the way I loved the golf

so I sold it and bought a 2007 Audi A3 sline cool car and i still own it as a daily.

but the endless days of looking on eBay,gumtree, auto trader and pistol heads for another mk2 golf came to an end 2 years later after my last one. It came up on gumtree 60miles away the advert had only been up for 2 days. I phoned the next day and agreed to view it on Sunday. Sunday came i viewed it I bought it for £3800 but there was a downside I couldn't have it till the end of December and it only being October there was a wait but we came to an agreement. Half way though November I get a text saying my new car came early you can pick the golf up few days later I bring it home and it was well worth the wait.

So the next morning I come out to this

I was fuming I don't know why someone would do this all I can think off is jealousy. The car is in a designated parking spot not in any ones way I haven't been revving it or anything.

Being in the motor trade a mechanic I know a few people so I went up to my local body shop and they managed to paint the wing and just a section of the bonnet and you would never notice. Since then I kicked my dads Audi s3 out of the barn and the golf in and put the Audi in the other spot Audi not keyed yet but dash cam in the windscreen might be keeping them away.

After this problem it was now Christmas so I managed to get a few goodies for the golf first the badge

Next a new coolant tank

Also did and oil change and put a new set of foot pedal covers in.

Still have a long todo list so I will keep you posted.

Awesome mate. It would be an oak green 5 door for me. I had a Prelude 'keyed' a while ago. Not in anyone's way, and worth about 56p. But it was mine and I loved it. Good luck with it my friend.

The mark 2 GTI is one of my all time favourite cars. Lasted after them in my youth. I remember sitting in one in my local VW dealer around 1989!

Nice looking one that is, I’ve recently started looking for either a mk 2 or 3 gti project.
Now subscribed, so keep the updates coming.

Went out in the cold weather this morning to just do a few bits.
Christmas present was a sticker under the bonnet removed the old one using autofinesse oblitarate and a razor blade and fitted the new one.

Next I had a battery cover laying around at work think it came of a Vauxhall zafira but fits perfectly.

Next I decided to clean the washer bottle I removed it and used a long wheel brush to get in side to scrub the dirt out and refilled it with blue washer fluid. Not perfect but an improvement

Still have plenty to do but have a VW meet at the end of this month so will need a quick clean for that next weekend.

Not been up to much as the weather has been poor. Gave the engine fan housing a clean up and paint and a new sticker. Hopefully this weekend I will be able to remove the wheels and give them a good clean and the arches.
