Toyota wheel arch fasteners

Anyone know how to get these fasteners undone without destroying them? They're holding the arch liners in on my Avensis and I want to get them out to clean behind and apply Dynax S50.

There's about 5 types and I can do most of them, it's just the ones with a flat circular head and a hole down the middle I'm struggling with. I know replacements are not that dear but I'd prefer to take it apart non-destructively if I can.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, they do a tool for removing them a little easier. If its the ones with the hole in like yours you need to remove the center pin first like in you pic. Some have a head on the center pin and some you can just push the little pin right in with a small screwdriver.

Thanks for the reply. I do have a similar tool and it's grand for all the two part button type fasteners. The thing is the ones I've shown in my picture don't have a centre pin, they're hollow in the middle, I think like these http://www.vehicleclips.co.uk/plasti...ms-toyota.html and there doesn't seem to be any obvious way to disengage the clip from the outside, trying to lever up the visible part just distorts it but it doesn't seem very likely it will release. I've tired putting various sizes of screwdriver down the central hole in case there's some clever mechanism in the that retracts the sides but no joy so far.

I suppose I could order some replacements and have a play around...

Hello. I help run an accident repair centre and the clips are kept in stock as they unfortunately break on removal 90 percent of the time. They are quite expensive as Toyota get to sell loads of them. There about 50p each. We stock a non genuine equivalent so we save a little money.

Thanks for the reply, I'm sort of glad to hear it's not just me missing something obvious. It doesn't feel like a very "Toyota" thing to do but I'm sure there were some reasons that made sense to someone! Anyway I think I can get off brand copies for 17p each so I'll buy a load and cross my fingers.
