No experience of using it for paint, but this might be a smoother option - its a wallpaper seam roller, but unlike most that are just a solid nylon wheel this one has a smooth foam covering...

https://www.diy.com/departments/dial.../179660_BQ.prd

no idea whether it would react with the BH products (solvent containing i'd guess ?), but might be worth a look if you happen to pass a store (its in with the paint scrapers, and well disguised because the cardboard sleeve covers the roller !)

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

My welder chum sent me some pictures at dinner....

Told him i liked his gussets..... certainly looks as though it will do the job once bolted together! I also ordered a pair of mounts for the front front the guy who makes the jig. Thought I'd be ok without, turns out probably not.

And finally got to pick up the parcel of bits I've been waiting.to collect. These are the parts my parts guy got from the dealership my bonnet came from. Rear beam mount, front ARB brackets, bumper bolts, fuel filter strap, door light switch and a couple of others I've forgotten probably....

Working from home today as I feel awful again so back at the docs. Making sure I stay hydrated

Hi bud.

You do realise your thread has passed the 1000 post Mark! That's some achievement.

The welding looks like a very tidy job indeed.

A couple of folk at work have had repeat bouts of whatever bug is going around. Sounds flippin awful. Hope you're improving, chum.

So it has.....although I think if we were to sieve out the crap, the foodie posts, the non Rallye related ones, it will probably be around the 300 mark!

Yep, pleased with the welding. Does look a very good job.

As for the bug, looks like it's morphed into a chest infection just in time for Easter, along with the rain. I'm just sleeping loads, which deffo means I'm not right. Banging headache too. Blood pressure is right up again. I've got to take loads of measurements for the next 5 days. Joy.

Just read this from start to finish....

What a brilliant thread.

The car is amazing, one of the best looking Pugs.

They seem to get better looking as they age..

Thank you very much Henry

Appreciate the feedback! The 306 is a good looking car. Testament to the skills of Pininfarina really. Its a design that hasnt really aged, or still looks just as good now (which ever way you look at it...!) which i guess is again a pojnter to the skills of the designer.

Sorry you're in the wars.

Needless to say, there's no point killing yourself over this resto or work - both will still be there when you recover. If you haven't done so, I suggest you get to bed and stay there until you are better.

Thanks Peter.

I took the day off sick today and stayed in bed pretty much all day, either sleeping, watching TV, or perusing forums/internet etc. Im feeling a fair bit better tonight so will see how i feel in the morning but we have some extra close down stuff to do at work but more importantly, ive a pair of mounts from the guy who built the jig being delivered. Chose work as i assumed id be there....

Being in a managememt position, i can based myself in my warm office with lots of tea. Got a couple of meetings tomorrow so nothing stressful, other than the commute. The journey home will be fun. Everyone be on the road for Easter i think.....

I spun a 306 once or twice myself. Just not in a barrel roll stylie. Take loads of pics bud.

Will it be easy enough to get the car onto the cradle?
