Reflex Silver Mk5 Golf GTI

Picking the new car up tomorrow so thought I would start a new project thread on here.

Having had the Fabia for just under 2 years I thought it was time for a change, I fancied a 3 door petrol hatchback and had a look at a few options including;

Ford Focus st
Mini Cooper s john cooper works
Audi s3
Volkswagen golf gti

I finally settled on the one I wanted, its an 06 plate 74k 3dr reflex silver Mk5 Golf GTI,

Admittedly I would have liked one with a slightly better spec but finding one that is mechanically as spot on as this one was proving very difficult, this one has Full VW Service History with the cam belt and waterpump being replaced by VW back in January and looks like it had been cared for, it ticked all the right boxes in that sense and theres always parts that I can retrofit like cruise control.

I have a few plans for the car, mainly little cosmetic touches to make the car my own so will hopefully update this thread as I go along, my aim with this car is to keep it a long time and look after it as well as I can like I have with my two previous cars.

Looking good, mine is similar age and mileage and going well.

It really does look in super condition other than the shiny steering wheel and thats an easy fix, just needs a really good clean to bring the leather back to a nice matt finish.

They are great cars and mine has needed very little spent on it in 2 years / 35k that I've had it.

Very similar to mines I bought in December, I'm on my 3rd MK5 GTi lol. I bought one with full VW history thinking it would be fine, £1200 later it is, however I know next time. As above, get on MK5golfgti.co.uk cracking forum.

Looks a tidy example. These still look good considering it's two generations previous of the Golf.

I had a mk5 Golf GTI Edition 30, loved that car. They are easy to upgrade to modern standards with sat nav, bluetooth etc.

Great cars I've had two of them, actually just sold my 2nd one a month ago only had 35k on clock on a 07 reg. for the second time after I sold it I realized just how great they are, I really miss mine they drive so good. Never had any problems with any of mine either.

Normal things to change on arrival is the cam follower, DV valve and pcv might be worth doing the sump pick to as some of these cars have had oil starvation due to a blocked oil pick up. Changed it on both mine but were clean as a anything.

Defo join the forum like someone said above loads of info enjoy the car
