Hopefully this'll do the trick ( fingers crossed )

Take another new bonnet release cable still currently available from the main dealers for just under £25 quid

Some high temperature heat proof sleeving 4mm first

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321102014569

I slit it down the middle and placed it over the area I'm having issues with

Taped each end up

And then wrapped in tin foil, a lot of

I then placed some more high temperature heat proof sleeve over this, this time I used 12mm

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321664108581

All fitted

Finally I've refitted the other heat protective sleeving over the top

Bonnet release works so time will tell if it cures its addiction for bonnet release cables, I do hope so...
Worth buying half a dozen cables while you can!

Can you make a metal heatshield/guard to fit between the manifold and the cable?

Just a cut template to tack or bolt in place?

OR

find an alternative model with a much longer cable and route it well away from the manifold - something with a much longer bonnet....Capri, Scorpio, Sierra?

It's too tight tbh to think about making a heat shield, touch wood all the recent work done and it's been fine today
Will see how things go
