Thanks for the comments chaps. As @mar00 states, this stainless is most likely lower quality...you wouldn't believe the exhaust retails for around £900!

I'll update the thread with results from the Deox test.

Yes it is a myth that Stainless Steel will not rust.

Very briefly, steel has a carbon content, this is where water attacks and rust will form.
SS has Chromium added (Molybdenum also added).
Less Chromium, the more free carbon and ability to rust. Hence the test of a magnet to check SS is not a difining one.
More chromium and molybdenum the better quality SS and less it will rust.... in short.

There are plenty of different types of stainless and some can rust. 304 and 316 should be fine

Rust will only form with the iron element in the steel. The carbon content forms a barrier to reduce the ability of rust to bond to the iron.
