Interior seat and carpet protection

What's the best product to spray onto the seats / trim to protect it against damage?

I’ve got some Gtechniq i1 waiting to go onto my new upholstery but want to give it a clean first and then it has to be completely dry before application or it won’t work, yet again at the mercy of the weather, where is the global warming they promised us? The reviews are pretty good on i2, with the only drawback being it is a bit stinky for a few days, but it is also a bit expensive at £15-20 for a bottle. Saying that it should protect against all spills and stains for 18 months+.
