Very nice work. Those Discoverys are definately workhorses if you treat them well, it seems to be in very good hands in that regard. Keep up the good work!

Hi all,

Getting ready to go away for a week but had a delivery this morning.

Brake pipe kit

Rear Calipers

Front Mudflaps, brackets and bolts

These will all be fitted on my return from a week walking in the Lake District. The rear calipers were only £39 each so due to the rear calipers that are fitted being so badly rusted and worn I decided to change them.

The brake pipes that are pitted will be changed from the kit, over time I want to do them all and then get the whole underside undersealed.

Pics of the work to be done soon.

Adam

You painting the callipers? Would look minted and a lot easier when they're clean like that.

Hadn't really thought about it to be honest. Not sure if it's the sort of vehicle that painted calipers would look good on.

I am however toying with the idea of getting the whole vehicle vinyl wrapped. I am thinking a satin/matt black bonnet with an urban camo scheme. Need to speak to OC Home Command first!

Urban cammo would look cool as. I'd paint the callipers - try and get it to match the towbar etc.

You can get some good hi-temp paint from Halfords actually. Just did some recently with the metallic grey. Looks excellent.

Hi all,

Been away for two weeks so not been able to get any pictures but work has been progressing. The rear calipers (unpainted) and brake pipe kit has all now been fitted for me. The rear pads were squealing quite badly but a genuine set of Land Rover pads with anti squeal shims has solved that.

The gearstick and hand brake gaiters have been replaced and I will get the pics up this week.

On Tuesday she goes for the MOT so wish me luck and I will let you know what happens on Tuesday night!

Good luck with the MOT man - it must be one of the tidiest Discos around now...

Pass, Pass, Pass, its Passed!

Well,

The Discovery passed it's MOT. I am well chuffed that the work we have put into it has paid off.

We did have 3 advisories, all to do with rust but nothing structural just cosmetic. These will be addressed quickly.

I managed to get the handbrake and gearstick gaiters done so:

Gearstick before

Handbrake before

Both after

Next job on this list is to really start detailing the inside properly, seats, headlining, plastic etc and then carry on with the bodywork. I have been offered a really good price for a respray so going to see how the scratches turn out first.

Watch this space for more updates soon.

Adam
