Tyre Depth Gauge

As title please any recommendations
Notice my service garage give depths to the first decimal point whereas the one I have is to the nearest whole number

If it's less than the edge marking on a 20p, it's time for shiny new black circles!

Tyre Depth Gauge

All tyres have tread wear indicators in the tread. Marked on the side wall at regulator intervals with TWI a or on Michelin with the Bibendum logo. When these are level with the tread its down to 1.6mm. The VOSA approved tread depth gauge imho is rubbish as the 1.6 mm marking is not that clear and I’m not a fan. I have used one of the ones in the link below for years. I like it as the graduations are far more easy to read. How accurate it is is open to debate. But I’ve always been happy with it.

I use these, very accurate and you can get them recalibrated.
Not cheap but a top tool.

I just got a cheap one of ebay/amazon for £5, EZI if I recall. Measures to two decimal points and is pretty accurate, it just won’t get calibrated so I don’t know what the error will be over the course of time. If i was bothered i’d go an check it against a set of calibrated verniers.
