My 'nearly' 100% AF detailing session (Prototype Machine Sealant + Desire)

Today was the day a promise had to be kept! I'd told my mum I'd clean her car at Christmas (having had a couple of drinks) but didn't get round to it over the holidays.

So last night I packed the kit ready for a mornings detailing. What I should say is - the 11 month old VW Golf had NEVER been washed...

The kit:

As mentioned, it had never been washed:

The wheels looked like they'd be a challenge:

So I started by foaming the car with Megs Hyper Wash:

Whilst this started its work I tackling the wheels with AF Imperial (1:4)

This was followed with a soaking with AF Tar and Glue remover, then Iron X:

Whilst this did it's bit, I paid attention to the detail with some Megs APC (10:1)

I was surprised by the bleeding - expected more:

So, onto the wash stage - using AF Lather:

And claying using AF Glide:

Iron X on the paintwork was surprising:

Prior to paint prep I took a few readings. I didn't expect there to be any issues as the car had never been machined or re-sprayed, and I'd only be using a light pre wax cleanser, but these numbers were odd:

Bonnet:

Roof:

Nonetheless, onto the polish:

The weather then started to look threatening so i sped on without many pics.

Onto the protection stage - the prototype AF machine sealant:

This was buffed off after quickly spreading via DA, and panel by panel:

(About to buff)

Then we had some hail (!) which melted on contact creating some fantastic beads:

I followed this up with a single layer of AF Desire (sorry, no pics).

The trim was dressed with AF Revive:

The glass was dealt with by AF Crystal and Nanolex Urban glass sealant.

And a few afters following a wiped own with AF Finale......sorry, no funky Tesco pics

Gotta do my dads next.......shame

Hope you enjoyed reading my AF adventure!

What a great turnaround on the best car ever to grace the roads!!

Looks very nice in the navy blue too, can't believe your mum hadn't washed in for a year!

Is this the 'Match' trim & what engine is this one on?
