Evening All,

Iím going through some bits on the car in preparation for itís MOT in a few months. Iíve noticed that 3 of the 4 dampers are weeping.

Iíve priced replacement OE units but as itís an M Sport it runs Sachs dampers at about £130 a corner so quite a costly exercise to change them all and refresh the chassis.

Iíve got 2 options and Iím looking for experience/advice on the 2 -

1 - Euro Car Parts do list alternatives made by Anschler at about £85 a corner. Has anyone used them and are they alright replacements for the M Tech units? Ride, handling, tyre wear etc?

2 - Various eBay sellers list coilover kits for the E91 at around £250 all in. I know that I would factor a geo setup into the costs but I need to understand if this is a viable option or whether anyone has done it and regretted it against standard. Same questions apply really. Ride, handling, tyre wear etc?

Experiences and suggestions welcome all.

Thanks,

Matty

Not forgetting to cut and paste the product number into www.carparts4less.co.uk first and add their MAY12 discount code and compare prices

Very short but overdue update on this thread -

195,000 miles, fresh ticket and no advisories! What a car!

Also, baby is imminent so naturally there was only one choice when it came to cosseting my child in comfort, style and safety

Only thing is Iíve done some suspension work, new dampers all round and 2 new rear tyres. Car now feels a bit floaty and unstable at high speed, tram lines at lower speeds and very pointy on turn in.

I thought maybe mismatched tyres or it needs an alignment?

Thoughts welcome!

Matty

Congratulations on the baby! Having become a dad for the first time end of last year I can relate to the excitement of car seat hunting ! I've toyed with the idea of an estate to replace my E90 saloon based Alpina due the amount of equipment we take with us on weekends away but apparently after you dispense with a load of new born stuff after the 1st year I am hoping I don't have to change or if I do I can go and get a M3/5!

What dampers did you end up getting? My garage wouldn't let me have my car back until alignment was done after new shocks as they said it would be way out so if yours hasn't been done then its defo worth getting that sorted.

Thanks dude! Car seat shopping was exciting, glad I bought the Recaro - disappointed now however to learn that theyíve since pulled out of the car seat market though, too much competition apparently.

If you do need to change to an estate there was an E91 Alpina D3 for sale in Evans Halshaw recently

I got boge dampers front and rear, did all the top and bottom mounts and drop lines while I was on. I think Iíll book in for an alignment then, see what is going on thanks bud

Nice Bi Turbo. Prices of used diesel cars seem to be plummeting. My mileage is minimal so fancy a petrol but they seem to be holding their value. Need a lotto win or sell some baby goodies !
