So tonight Lewis came round to collect the Solex 34 PICT-5 from the van for refurbishment.

The lad works quick!

He’s hoping to have it cleaned and rebuilt over the next few days.

Just to update, the carb is back on the van and my friend Lewis has done a great job. It's in need of a little finetuning after a few miles, but already I'm seeing much better throttle response and improved fuel consumption. This tied in with all the new suspension components has really improved the drivability. The van is currently in the bodyshop to have a little TLC on the bodywork along with the new bumper and the solar charge kit being fitted. Hopefully will have it back next week better than ever

And we are now solar powered

Also, I replaced a few small coolant hoses that were looking rather tired (old cotton overbraid stuff I noticed steam coming from), as I suspected them as the source of a minor coolant leak...lo and behold, it's resolved it

Already at it lol
Having a couple of nights at one of my favourite sites in Porthmadog.

Van drove really well and used around half the fuel it has done previously.

Cleaned the van up after the weekends trip, and took a few photos towards getting an agreed insurance value on teh van. The thinking here is for when I go abroad. I have paid out for the best and most inclusive breakdown/recovery cover I can for when abroad, but these all still have a rider in regards to the vehicle being 'beyond economical repair' in regards to recovery. Obviously Glass' value will be rock bottom for a vehicle like this and not reflect its worth to me or the market. Basically, should the worst happen, I want to try and make sure my van doesn't get left in Europe!

Also, the van just ticked over 100k whilst I was driving to Wales
