Expensive I presume? Would the ABS light not come on though?

Brake master cylinder sensors failure.

Really need to do a diagnostics scan to see what/if any codes show.

Just been and read the codes.

Its G201...

Dont really know what that means but my indy said its not an urgent job, just means there'll be some more slip.

Also I deliberately tested the ABS on a gravel road on the way to mechanic and it still works.

Any ideas on how much this should cost or even where I can pick up the part from?

I presume VW would want atleast £500 if not more.

I'd get a quote from an independent specialist.

Right so been doing some digging around.

From what it looks like, I need an ABS unit - about £200 remanufactured i.e. the company send me one and then I send them my faulty unit back. Benefit is that it has lifetime warranty and these things are known to fail.

Or I can buy the repair kit - Ill ring the dealers and see how much that is - some people have managed to get it for their Skoda's (same unit) for £160 which isn't too bad but has a 2 year warranty

Labour should be OK - 3 hours work so about £300-450 in total including parts I would presume but all dependent on how much these things are to buy

Have you checked with VW UK, on my dads Touran he had this fault, and spoke to VW /VW dealer who fitted a replacement unit at no cost to him, I don't remember exactly how old his car was, but years out of 3 year warranty and he hadn't even had it serviced at VW after the first 3 years. I don't know the criteria for a goodwill repair but may be worth asking VW uk as I was really shocked when they did it f.o.c.

I can give it a try - nothing to lose I guess.

The car is 9.5 years old so 6.5 years out of warranty! Its also only been serviced at VW once, its mainly been done at independents.
