Nice car mate, looking forward to the exterior shots when finished, I like the idea of the black roof if you don’t mind me asking, what springs did you opt for? I’m running a ‘14 plate with standard set up and have been toying with setting it a little lower.

I bought these
https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-VOLKSWAG...=1712681309010
Made an offer of £120, which was accepted. Arrived next day.

I've use this make in the past with good results, seem to work ok with standard dampers, so fingers crossed these will do as i want.

Looking very nice indeed and some great work coming on - certainly looks like they're doing a great job.

Looking forward to seeing the end result, especially the roof

that's the plan... I hate having a half arsed attempt at something, the previous repairs were shocking when you looked closely.
Once all of that was out the way everything which remained was totally as she left the factory, she deserves a decent paint job.
The issues with the bonnet were confirmed that at some point she'd had a front impact, lots of bodges behind the scenes, the main radiator carrier was crack, so a new one of them has been ordered also and will be fitted.
Also with the correct screws and clips etc.

James (my painter) is very thorough and whilst not cheap, (IMHO) is very good.

I too cannot wait to see the end result..... I mentioned today that I wanted the grill black and as usual he just shrugged his shoulders and said, "ok, makes no difference what the final colour is, prep's the same"

8 swatch cards to test different tones of the silver colour, it being in his words " a tw@t to match"

Doesn't your paint guy use a spectrophotometer to colour match?

Gives a much more accurate colour match

he knows what he's doing, and with this particular VW paint it is a pig to match but he won't give it back unless it is perfect
