The fact it has an mot is a god send, at least you that structurally its not about to fail and that the engine and ancillaries are such that the emissions are good.

I would imagine there are a handful of Jaguar/Daimler parts specialists that could help you out with replacement rear wing and bumpers - the rest looks to be down to a good bodyshop, and as you say at least you can drive it around to allow accurate quotes for the work.

Do all the electrical items work ?

This one seems to have far worse issues in similar places - maybe a worthy donor car if the price is right ?

Whoa! thanks for posting that - I feel much better now! That car is in an awful state...

I don't really have the cash for a donor car... maybe a Doner Kebab?... in all fairness I kind of hope someone buys that and saves it. Looks to good to break up to me.

Most electrical things work on my car... but there are a few exceptions. The electric headrest needs help to raise it. Also the backrest moves forwards, but not backwards, so I have to be careful not to touch that button! The power fold mirror on the drivers side does not move, and the glass has been replaced, so I assume it has taken a hit.

All the heated seats work though; front and back. To my surprise the rear electric seats work a treat. The electric Aerial goes up and down as it should. The Audio system seems spot on too.

Functionally my car is actually pretty sound, it's more the cosmetic stuff that needs attention.

I doubt your rear seats have seen an awful lot of use - other than keeping Peter's dog warm

So next update, the wheels.

This is where things are looking up; all four corners have the correct Pirelli P6000, and all road legal (just). They are all also in pretty good nick, although I will know for sure after a good clean.

I forgot to photograph the 4th wheel - but they are all much of a muchness!

The spare looks pretty alright too:

While checking it out I may as well mention that the boot floor looks nice and clean, no rust. I was relieved to see that.

So onwards to the exhaust tips; both covered in overspray!!

The Daimler badge on the grille has been painted gold, it should be a natural gold colour. There are also scratches around it, suggesting someone tried to remove it.

More to follow.....

The sills have nice shiny Daimler tread-plates on them. The front ones have the odd mark and dent, but are otherwise not too bad.

However the rear owes are covered in duct tape!!

I am guessing this was to stop Fido the dog from damaging them? I have peeled off the duct tape on one side and the tread-plates appear to be intact, just covered in glue and residue from the duct tape.

More duct tape I am afraid... the wheel centres appear to have had little pieces of duct tape added. At first I assumed they would fall off without the duct tape; but it turns out this is not the case. So I am puzzled, as to why this tape was added.

So there is more glue and residue to remove here:

This is present on all four wheels.... you get the idea...

The next odd thing is that some hubcaps have Jaguar Growlers on them, and others have the correct Daimler emblem:

The mirrors look in pretty good nick. However the drivers side mirror has clearly taken a beating. There is foam stuck where it rotates, the mirror glass has been replaced with one of those horrid 'stick over the top' types, the powerfold mechanism is broken and it does not adjust very well.

But the passenger one seems good.

I have no idea if the heating works, suggest not on the drivers side.

The windscreen and the rear side windows have these window toppers on them. I think some people call them sun-strips. I'm not particularly keen so these will be going.

Now on to the centre console, and we find some strange rubber seal has been glued to the ashtray lid. I tried peeling this off and the glue is really a pain to remove. I might end up having to replace this part which is going to be difficult. Sometimes the littlest things can give you the most trouble....

The top of the armrest is worn, but I think its good enough to re-colour and save. Fingers crossed!

The cup-holders need a good scrub!

Some sort of residue on the underside of the lid... bet that's been there for quite a few years...

...the all important phone!... not sure if it works yet?
