Cool My car of the day, new VW T-Cross.

VW will be expanding their SUV range with the T-Cross which will be the smallest SUV from the German brand. It will be the direct rival to the Nissan Juke, Citroen C3 Aircross and Seat's Arona. The T-Cross will be built on the same platform as the Polo and consequently share the same mechanical running gear. With it's chunky wheel arches, boxy profile and tall bonnet, it gives the T-Cross a more meaningful SUV look about it. VW are aiming the T-Cross at young small families while also be versatile to all types of customers. All models will be front-wheel drive only and buyers can opt for a 95 BHP or 115 BHP 1.0 litre three cylinder turbo engine connected to a six speed manual as standard. Inside you'll see it looks very much the Polo while the digital instrument display on higher spec models. Model ranges will start with the S-model through to SE,SEL and R-line trims. The T-Cross is due on sale early next year starting at £16,500.

Not for me, also struggling to understand why they need another small SUV, that’s slightly smaller than the T-Roc, which is smaller than the Tiguan ???

Seems to be creating another one for the sake of it...

Isn't the T-Roc based on a Polo?

I agree with the idea of why is this needed when you have the T Roc and other VW group alternatives and at the end of the day is it really so much better than a Polo.

After talking to a VW salesman, I would only be looking for a a 4 cylinder engine (or larger!)

Not for me either - I think they have created a car for a market that doesn't need or want a small SUV

Peugeot, Audi, Ford, Citroen, Kia, Hyundai, Renault, Vauxhall etc don't seem to have much trouble selling their small SUVs

Quite like it, rather have it that a renault captur, peugeot 2008 etc etc. Specification looks pretty good. Although other markets are getting the 1.5 TSI EVO engine which would be the one id prefer over a 3 cylinder.
