BH Clay Question

Is this normal now for BH clay? I’ve got to smack it with a mallet to get it into a disc shape.

I cannot remember having this issue years ago when I used it last. It just does not seem malleable.

The second pic is some back up cheap auto allure clay for a comparison.

Fill a jug up with warm water then leave it to warm up then knead it into a disk.

I bought the soft version after trying the ordinary, but I believe it depends on how aggressive you need the clay.

I don't flatten mine anyway, I use a lump of it because it's easier to hold on to and it flattens in use anyway.

Thanks I’ll give it another go but I’ve used plenty of clays and this is very hard.

I don't get on with BH Clay for the same reason - I only break it out for very touch patches now as the working time on it is just not up to my needs

as already said get in in a pot of hot water and it'll go into a nice disk and be workable

Is that the regular?

The medium is good for all round use. Regular is only good during summer and soft is too sticky in summer so only good for winter use.

That looks normal to me, it's just needs a lot of working and some warmth in it. Brilliant stuff though
