Tape-ing off before polishing - Tape!

I just wondered if anyone else taped off any plasticy bits etc before getting out the PC? I noticed in another thread that Tesco value masking tape's not bad and also 3M painters tape is also well regarded for this sort of thing.

Anyway, i was in Wilkinsons and stumbled across some insulating tape. It's quite low adhesive and it's got a durable rubbery, plasticy, stretchy surface on it. And it's only 19p for 4.5 metres or 55p for 20 metres! Bargin! So i bought some and tested it to make sure it worked ok on the paint, glass and on plastics and it was fine. Stuck to all surfaces tightly but peeled off easily and left no residue. Anyway, i just thought i'd share, as it's pretty cheap - and availible in different colours, from blue, red, yellow, green, black and evern stripes!

I've never taped off before, I think my neighbours reckon I'm nuts enough, but once my garage is built I'll probably do this, as I'll be hidden away! I do have blue painters tape though.

Me too - 10 mins is all it takes, so much better than trying to be careful. Sod the neighbours, they must **** themselves regularly anyway when they see me outside in winter gales washing my car (just getting the salt off!).
