Topaz - gone thick/jellylike

I got a 1L bottle of Topaz a couple of years back and used it for a while on my wife's DD and thought it gave good results for (fairly) low effort.

I then moved on to trying other products (as you do) and stuck the half-full bottle of Topaz on a shelf and sort of forgot about it - I've just rediscovered it and found that it's gone very thick and jelly-like, a bit grainy almost like a paste. If I get a blob out of the bottle it still spreads with a cloth/applicator so there are no hard lumps, it's just too thick

I'm assuming that a lot of the solvent has evaporated - does anyone know what I can add to it to rescue it (or is it beyond saving?)

Cheers

You went off the entire Autosmart range on the basis of one bad experience with one product?!?!
They make some excellent products which I'm sure you'd be happy with

Just thinking out loud here.

Do Autosmart not only sell 5l containers of Topaz meaning that if you've bought 1l it's not from an official seller and has likely been decanted.

Given a few have a similar problem i assume its not been diluted (though i suppose everyones could have been) but could the container be causing the problem and shortening the shelf life of the product?

Maybe someone from AS could she'd some light?

Mine came out of my 5ltr tin, but still 'dried out' - I haven't checked what remains in the tin....yet.

A good shake and then stand it in a bowl/pan of hot water helped with mine.

I did the same - shouldn't have to do it, but needless to say, I won't be buying any more.

I can't imagine having 5L of this stuff and having it separate before you have a chance to use it.

I tried this - in fact, I tried it replacing the water several times up to the point where the container got so hot I couldn't hold it in bare hands and had to shake it using oven gloves, although it seemed to soften a bit, it didn't really help

After the hot water I tried some IPA - ended up with relatively thin purple liquid with a layer of waxy porridge on top. Kept shaking it over a couple of days but the 'porridge' wouldn't dissolve - then tried repeating the hot water bath (as above) but still no joy....

Given up on it now and thrown it away....

I've been hoping someone from AutoSmart might be along to advise if anything can be done to restore it to the original consistency.

Yeah, if we knew which solvent to use there might be a chance - although, after my experiment with IPA, I think I can conclusively say that it's not alcohol...
