I have had my Golf R for just under 3 weeks now so decided to finally start a thread for it. Previously I had a mk5gti but had*been looking at an 7R for a long time. I recently transferred from part time in the Fire Service to full time so thought now was the perfect time to finally get one and to get something to show for my hard work. I looked everyday online for the right one, initially I wanted a Lapiz Blue 5dr Dsg with both full leather and pretoria alloys. I came across one but when I rang to enquire it had already been sold*It was then when I looked a few days later when I saw an Oryx white model fairly locally, so I rang up and organised to view it the next day.

Once I saw the Oryx white in the flesh I knew it was the colour that I wanted. The car itself has a really good spec in my opinion,

Oryx White
3 door DSG
65 plate
25,000 miles
Full service history
Full heated vienna leather
19" Pretoria Alloys on*Continental Contisportcontact 5's
Keyless entry and go
Black electric folding mirrors
Sat nav with DAB

First thing I decided was to get a fresh set of plates before I put mine on

Once I had picked the car up, the DAB radio didn't have the icons so I uploaded them on a memory stick

After

And finally after it's first clean

My favourite so far

The only thing that I have done to the car is I have had a security system fitted to the car for peace of mind after seeing some videos and hearing stories about keyless cars. Thankfully this will no longer be a problem!

Thanks

Jamie

Hi mate,

I downloaded them from here;

http://infotainment.phonostar.de/ima...ag/eur/GBR.zip

If there is any missing you could just go on google and save them, I then put them on a usb and plugged it into the car, then no radio settings there is a station logo selection then transfer them, sure thats how I did it. Hope this helps

So a bit of an update on the car;

Quick clean before I went on holiday

I invested in a pedal box off a member of the owners club

One evening going to work I achieved this;

Had a few VWRacingline parts come;

VWR 600 Intake
VWR Turbo inlet pipe
VWR Turbo inlet elbow
VWR Turbo muffler delete

I then went to CLP Automotive in Sheffield for a Haldex service as vw only change the oil and don't clean the filter and unit out. Couldn't fault the service whatsoever so will be going back there in the future.

I then met up with the member of the owners club who sold me the pedal box to help fit my new parts.

Air intake off

The comparison showing the differences and the restrictions of the original parts

Turbo elbow on

Intake housing

Filter in place

All finished

Really impressed with all the parts, car feels so much more responsive, more than I thought it would to be fair so really happy.

Thanks mate, nowhere near as impressive as your work on the Audi!

So slight change of plan with the Golf. I got talking to a chap on the owners forum who had just picked a R up with black pretoria's, he could not get on with them so I made him an offer of swaps and cash however he decided he was going to keep them.

A few weeks later I messaged him to see if he'd like to buy my cadiz alloys of me to my delight he did and he would come to collect them! Result.

My thoughts were the Cadiz alloys already had part worn tyres so i'd use them then get some winter tyres put on but then thought if I could sell them I could get alloys with new winter tyres on.

I made a decent profit on the cadiz alloys so used that to buy a set of alloys with a bit of spare cash to put towards the refurb. I have purchased the tyres today so they should be here for the end of the week. I think I am going to try City Powdercoaters in Birmingham.

Anyway, I have not seen a set of the Audi alloys on an R in the uk so will be something different. I actually prefer the look of these alloys but at the end of the day they are to serve a purpose.

They are a set of Audi alloys off a 2007 S4. 18" 8J ET45 so should be a nice fit.

So off to Kettering I went

Unsure whether to go for a colour like this or keep them silver so the centre caps still match

How they should look on the golf

I've recently read up on the haled filter not being serviced. Some of the photos on the owners club are frightening, it looks like it's a must to clean.

Cracking looking car btw mate.

Yeah it's bad that volkswagen don't clean the filter as part of the service as it can get so clogged up, thats why I took it to a specialist.

Thanks mate

Decided to get the two remaining tyres left on the alloys taken off at a local tyre company

Found out that in the past the wheels have been refurbished by Lepsons

Tyres arrived yesterday

Had a bit of spare time this morning so decided to give the exhausts a polish and get them sealed with some Gtechniq

I used a rubber mallet to get the exhaust tips off for better access

Plenty of tar to get rid of

Tar dissolving

First one polished up
