Not again!!

So we're booked in on the 20th to have the door damage rectified when some kind soul whacked the car and left. It needs a dent specialist then repainting etc. So we thought it was just bad luck......life.......etc......

Today my wife was going to collect my drugs and on the main road was waiting for a gentleman to reverse into a space. As she sat there static a young girl on her phone with a baby in the car ran straight into the back of her.

In the 15 years we had a Volvo we never had as much of a scratch. Since getting this Passat someone's hit the door scraped the front bumper, scraped the back bumper and now driven into the back of us. I think we are cursed. Do you think some cars are just unlucky and it is better to get rid?

It is in the hands of the insurers now but although it was a rear impact I have noticed the sides of the rear bumpers have scratches on now and above the reg there are fresh scratches. How can this be??
I only detailed it Saturday and they were not there then but how can a rear impact cause damage to the side of the bumper? Also the rear light cluster is chipped and her shoulders are aching. Thankfully the little baby wasn't hurt, that's the main thing. What is it with people on their phones. I can't concentrate on my phone when I am doing nothing, let alone driving a car. Anyhoooo pics included.

I give up!

I don't think cars can be cursed but I do think it's quite possible to lose confidence in a car. Unfortunately there are innumerable bad and careless drivers and the chances of someone damaging your car seems to be increasing all the time. It's not great that your wife has been hurt though - hopefully nothing lasting.

A handheld phone though...with a baby in the car? As if the distraction of a baby when driving isn't enough. What a stupid idiot.

That's really bad luck. Hopefully you get it all sorted quickly.

More likely to be where the paint has flexed and stress cracked due to the impact than scratches. You'd be surprised just how far a bumper will move and then spring back after an accident.

Man that sucks. Just seems to be the way my old 307 190000 miles was really beaten up nothing ever happened to it. My wife's immaculate Jazz, stationary with our 8 week old son in the car, rear ended by a lady who wouldn't stay because she was late for work. It's always the people who look after their cars that seem to suffer.

There's no such thing as curses. You just seem to be in one of them phases of life where a few more crappy things get together. It's annoying, but there's nothing wrong with your car. I feel for you, though .. it sucks. The good thing is: It can onl yget better, you kind of used up your pool of unluckyness for a while.
