Local man killed by dog..

This guy lives a mile away from me. It was only a month ago when the same kind of dog attacked a postman after it was deemed not to be a banned breed after it had earlier attacked a postman.

By all accounts the dead man had been thrown a knife by neighbours but he wouldnt use it on the dog, police were hitting the dog with a fire extinguisher but it wouldnt let go.
They had to call the dog owner who was at work, not sure how long the dog attacked him for but it must have been a while.

Any dog can be dangerous if it hasn't been raised correctly and mistreated, unfortunately it's the pit bull / staffy types that are given a bad reputation..

I haven't read the link but I hope the dog was destroyed. Some dogs just shouldn't be owned as pets. Human lives are more important, though I know some on here will disagree.

As the link says it's how the dog was treated and trained, I have a pit bull and staffy from pups and there the most lovable dogs I have had and have never shown any aggression towards other dogs or people. They even take orders from my 5 year old daughter.

The dog had only just been released after being deemed safe.

It's happening all too often now. You either need to ban the dogs or stop people getting a hold of potentially dangerous dogs that can't look after them.

Every time there is a dog attack you can bet people are going to say it's out of character.

It's a bit like a human court every week too. There's countless people appearing for acts of violence and you can bet more often than not "It's out of character".

It appears like most creatures in this world, we all have our bad moments no matter how well groomed or trained we think we are.

Sadly magistrates don't seem to like ordering dogs be destroyed, the owner usually gets them back having been told to muzzle them when in public. Absolutely ridiculous.

Nothing to do with the choice of magistrates, it the law that if the owner agrees to certain rules. None of the dogs returned have been found to be a danger. If a dog is found to be of a none danger to others then there is no reason they shouldn't be released

That maybe true but unfortunately the minority of owners of these breeds are not responsible owners and own these breeds as a status/protection thing. They will agree to anything with a magistrate but will they follow the rules?

Not at all. for a start we dont know what type of breed this dog was. it was not a band breed, that is all we know. yet as always some come on slating the same type of dogs . It is better to keep to facts and not just surmise we know.
