There is a little marring on the faces, nowhere near as bad as the backs though

Just a generic noodle type wash pad, nothing branded. It is what I use for my wheels rather than the body.

I'm not of the opinion the wash mitt is entirely the issue here. I suspect the black paint is very very soft. I'm going to do a little experimentation when I have another wheel off and see.....

Well, not having had a wash for 2 weeks as I wasn't well at all last weekend and the weather was awful, the golf was more black in places than white. 1500 motorway miles with the damp and the salt isn't kind to a white car.

The sun was shining today so it got a wash. Took two buckets of wash stuff to complete, it was that dirty. Just finished drying it and the heavens opened with snow! Just at this point my neighbour appeared and asked me if I could follow him.to the Jag dealers in Leicester as he is having issue with his S type and then bring him back. Snowed even more in Leicester and you wouldn't know I'd washed the bottom half of the car again!!!

Anyhow, there's been a couple of marks over the passenger side doors and middle of the roof that have been there since new. Kinda odd as I'd have thought the PDI would have picked them up but we're there at first wash.... decided today to get the Flex with a black pad and the S40 on them. A closer look before polishing suggested they were tar type marks so I got an old MF and sprayed a little Tardis onto it and wiped the marks. Gone!

Only pics are of the marks before....no point taking afters!!

Only other point of note is that tomorrow it will pass the 10k miles mark!!!!!! I've had it just over 3 months so my estimate of 40k pa isn't going to be too far out! She continues to behave impeccably although I've noticed she wanders a little. I'm wondering if this is the tyres wearing as road noise has definitely increased. The Bridgestones have to go. Ill talk to Lex before I get them changed (they are going to need changing next 3-4 months at this mileage rate) and see if they will let me have Pilot Sport 4's or Cross climates.....

I’ve got the Golf R and they came with Bridgestone potenza’s on, not sure if yours are the same on the gtd? Literally got about 10k miles out of them before they were shot.

Upgraded to the Goodyear eagle asymmetric 3’s and after 11k miles they’ve still got 7mm all round. Much better grip, loads less road noise as well.

Yeah, it has the Potenza S001s. Few others on the GTD Facebook page have said they got about 10k and they were shot. Guess trundling up and down the motorway at 70 is a bit kinder on the tyres....

Not much to report really apart from the fact I'll roll though 11k this week.....and then a slightly more worrying trend appears to be starting....

Two posts in two days on the GTD Facebook page. Two cars have both had front bumpers stolen:

Seems they are being taken very easily indeed. Reminds me of the 90's when all the E36 M-Sport bumpers were being nicked.

I'm going to look into replacing the nuts with security ones. Can do without the hassle of the bumper being stolen....

Thieves got clever....

15 or so Fiesta STs got taken in one weekend down here the other week. Police have taken to stopping them or following people home to warn them.

I’ve got a 67 plate GTD with 13,700 miles. Had it since 6th November as my company car.

Before that I had an Audi A3 Sport 3dr with the 1.4cod engine. Really good engine.

Previously I had a MK5 plate GT 2.0 Diesel 140bhp.

This golf is really good, chose it because I needed a stock car and this had the performance and standard equipment over rivals. Really love the active cruise makes driving all those miles easy.

Only got it on a 2 year lease. Thinking of either a red golf GTI or the new A Class A250 in AMG Line trim for its replacement.
