Mercedes SL 600 interior

A friend of mine just bought a 2004 Mercedes SL600 and came to me for some advice on the interior.

There are stains on the door cards and interior trim. We're not sure what the stain is. It doesn't seem to budge with regular leather cleaner. After looking at it I was wondering if it's water damage. Does anyone have any tips on what might shift it?

Thanks,
John

Almost certain it's water. I had a R129 with similar problems. I bought new door cards from a scrappy as the cost of reconnolising was twice as much.

Thanks Peter.
Can you recommend a good Merc breaker who might have good quality replacements please?

I wonder if re-touching it yourself would be an option. I've recently retouched a bit of bolster wear on my seats.

Furniture Clinic have been very helpful. It may be worth asking their advice on whether any of the products would be appropriate.

amin.ashra on eBay (London-based) was my go to man for SL interiors - honest descriptions if a little pricy.

There is an SL based specialist who advertises in Mercedes Enthusiast but I can't recall the name.

You'll need to be very lucky to get all that from a scrappy, time to talk to the leather experts.

Not sure why.

From what I see, he needs two door cards and two top trim panels plus the pop-up roll bar. If the chap I mentioned has a car with right interior, he should have all those bits, and he normally has five or six breaking. The roll bar should be the easiest because it is hardly ever deployed in anger, and where it is, the car has bigger worries than trim replacement. It is thus a seldom asked for part, except where a total interior colour change is wanted.

I still have a pop up roll bar in my lock up but it's black and for the previous series (£45 IIRC but from a German dealer).

Thanks Peter, I'll get in touch with that chap. Hopefully he has the right interior. The car is a nice low miler and it'll be nice to getting it looking right
