Trouble removing marks on roof

I'm trying to tidy up my Megane R26. I'm getting good results on other parts of the car but the roof is covered in what looks like tree sap. The photo was taken after I'd washed and dried the car. I've also used Korrosol and G101 but the marks remain. The roof feels smooth - it's like this is etched in or something

This is after polishing with Megs 105 using a microfibre pad. It's coming off slowly but this is after multiple passes and some of the marks are still there.

Has anyone seen this before and is there a better way to get rid of it?

Try polishing, it should remove the etching.

So the clearcoat has been etched by something - tree sap maybe?
I'll just keep going with the 105 and Ultimate compound then? I'm using a DAS6 with a microfibre pad and a white foam pad and it's taking ages..!
