Update time. The tinworm has been chomping away at the inner sills and jacking points, an E39 Achilles heel. So on recommendation from a mate it was booked into Kandy Paint Shop in Bolton where Andy did a fantastic job, the inners sills were re-plated, the rear jack points were strengthened and new jack pads fitted. All stonechipped, undersealed and rust treated. Top stuff. So now I have that rarest of beasts a (for the time being) rust-free E39.

Brilliant work.

Don't be afraid to post more photos of the whole car. Such a beast.

I was bored waiting for the guy to come to service the boiler...

Doesn't everyone vacuum the bonnet liner?

It's going in in a couple of weeks to have the NSR door stripped back to bare metal then repainted. It's got a hell of a lot of paint on it due to repairs over the years and the top layer has cracked in places. That should be the bodywork virtually finished. Then it'll probably have a new radiator and hoses simply due to age.

A little update.
Had the two n/side wheels in for refurb at the now sadly closed (as of last week) Wheel Repair Centre at Bamber Bridge. They did a lovely job on the shadow chrome so after cleaning and treating the arches they had a coat of C5 (as did the disc bells) new 'M' badges and put back on the car with new bolts too.

Love this pic!

Picked them up from my tyre fitter to find he'd used Nitrogen to fill them so after fitting it was back down there to have the other two done!

If anyone sees me on the BMW Car Club Stand at Silverstone next weekend please come and say hi...

"... Then it'll probably have a new radiator and hoses simply due to age."

Don't forget the water pump [and even thermostat] too.
