Some junkman Inspiration *updated 19/06/17

After recently finding I was putting in a lot of effort an not getting the desired results (i.e. the car was shiney, but still had swirls), I decided to look through the forum for help and came across junkmans videos for beginners, I would honestly recommend this guy to anyone, he does it in real time, no editing, no hiding blemishes, what you see is what you get..

I consider myself still a novice after 10 years doing basic valeting on cars, and prep for details, this is only my 3rd attempt with a DA:

The car at this stage had been washed, and iron x carried out:

Onto some claying:

Looking not too bad and shiney:

At this stage my mate had kindly let me use his garage, he had purchased some very reasonable flood lights from B&Q for £25 which more than done their job as you will see:

After 3 passed with some Meguiars Ultimate Compound:

And that's as far as I got, that took me 7 hours believe it or not, I managed to compound the boot/rear bumper, passenger side rear door/quarter panel. Will try and take some more as I carry on, this will need to be done over a number of weeks due to work commitments.

Great result, and like you I was encouraged by Junkman - took the fear out of it for me, and showed me not to expect it to go from swirled to perfect in 5 minutes. Definitely well worth watching

Doing a fine job on the car there buddy.

Junkman is a legend, that's how I got to grips with polishing via his videos and you have certainly learnt a lot, great effort.
