Glass + windscreen sealant - instructions please

Morning all,

I am fairly new to detailing especially to 'sealants' i.e. glass sealants - but after reading few posts and watching few YT videos I am impressed and want to use on but....

...what is the whole process here - talking about glass/windscreen sealing ?

1. After I washed my car...
1a Can I use any good windscreen/glass cleaner to clean/prepare the glass ?
1b After that should I use clay ?

2. After above is the glass ready for sealant?
2a. How to apply (probably looking at Angelwax H2Go for windscreen and Wowo’s Crystal Sealant on other glass)
2b. Once the sealant has been applied what is next ? (buff off + another coat)

3. If I want to wash my car again how should I clean/treat glass with sealant on it?

4. If I want just to clean the glass/windscreen between washes what glass cleaner should I use to not remove the sealant ?

5. If I want to completely strip the sealant down (which is quite strong) how to do it - what cleaner ???

Many thanks,

Chris

1a Yes...any glass cleaner or 20% IPA mix will do fine.
1b If your glass feels rough than yes...in fact its always better to give the glass a quick clay than not to.

2a You dont need 2 sealants. H2go will be great on all windows with about 3-5 months durability on front and 12 months durability on side windows
2b apply, wait till it hazes (around 10-15 min) and buff off. You can apply another coat straight after

3 treat it like you did before. Wash and dry. You can even use QD on it while drying to avoid or remove water spots.

4 I suggest a QD, waterless wash or a rinseless shampoo like Optimum No Rinse. That way you can control where you want to clean.

5 use a glass polish like AF vision, Poorboys pro polish or carpro ceriglass.

1. After I washed my car...

1a Can I use any good windscreen/glass cleaner to clean/prepare the glass ?

yes but i would use a glass polish on a microfibre applicator pad like autofinesse vision then buff it off and use an alcohol glass cleaner to remove the residue

1b After that should I use clay ?

clay before the glass polish

2. After above is the glass ready for sealant?

yes

2a. How to apply (probably looking at Angelwax H2Go for windscreen and Wowo’s Crystal Sealant on other glass)

havnt used wowos but with h2go apply it with a cotton make up aplicator then after 15mins buff it off, 1h later do another layer

2b. Once the sealant has been applied what is next ? (buff off + another coat)

wait 15mins then buff it off, then wait 1h and do another layer

3. If I want to wash my car again how should I clean/treat glass with sealant on it?

should be fine with snow foam, ph neutral shampoo

4. If I want just to clean the glass/windscreen between washes what glass cleaner should I use to not remove the sealant ?

with a glass cleaner with no alcohol or amonia in it as alcohol and amonia will weaken it

5. If I want to completely strip the sealant down (which is quite strong) how to do it - what cleaner ???

glass polish like autofinesse vision
