VW Trying to finish off Tesla?

Looks like they are happy to lose million on lost leader?

Teslas days are numbered, they will be a supplier of battery technology to the masses but cars - while being recognised as the instigators of electric power for the masses will die off, once the mainstream manufacturers make a concerted effort of which Jaguar, Nissan and BMW are the main instigators so far make a real push to electric only ranges.

VW's all electric car probably runs on gas, although with brexit coming they will probably only sell us EU plugs.

You kind of ****ed me off a little when i first started reading your comment, as a massive Tesla fan, i thought you were another hater!

HOWEVER - the more i think about it, the more i think you are right. Companies that are ALREADY well known, house hold brands can move in & take Tesla's place rather easily cant they!

I like Tesla’s they will always be known of the pioneers of electric cars but I just don’t see how they will survive as mass market producers once the big boys take it on seriously.

Everything they have produced so far has been expensive there is nothing aimed at Ford Fiesta/focus sized cars for the everyday people. While the model 30 is supposed to be mass produced they really are struggling with getting it on the road. I hope they survive I really do.

tesla definitely didn't pioneer anything the first production rechargeable EV was English in about 1870,

what did make EV more viable was lithium ion batteries original idea from scientists working a UK universities and developed by Japanese,

one thing tesla probably did was get people interested in EV's again with the first roadster, but like a lot of American companies they are very good at twisting the facts,

Well time will tell but to date VW haven’ t actually designed and built a bespoke production pure EV. Their hybrids are as expensive as their diesel performance models yet offer no better real world ecconmy advantage.

I look forward to seeing their pure EV minibus concept hit the showrooms at under £35k to compete with Dinosaur powered SUV range
